Montgomery County Police shared an overview of reported calls for service from Friday, August 21 through Sunday, August 23. The incidents listed below do not reflect all calls for service during the three-day period.
In the 1st District, which includes Rockville, Potomac and portions of North Bethesda, police reported that three vehicles were stolen from a dealership in the 800 block of Rockville Pike between August 15 and August 21. A vehicle was also stolen near River Rd and Pennyfield Lock Dr early Friday, another was stolen from a parking lot in the 14000 block of Cove Ln early Saturday, and a commercial burglary was reported early Sunday in the 1400 block of Rockville Pike, where a business’s front door was broken and property was taken. Police also made an arrest following an aggravated assault in the 200 block of N. Washington St early Friday.
In the 2nd District, which includes Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Kensington and parts of Potomac, police arrested a suspect accused of entering a home through a rear door in the 10500 block of Alloway Dr on Friday. Several shots were fired during a gathering in the 2700 block of Garfield Ave early Saturday, though no injuries were reported. A vehicle was stolen from the 11500 block of Hitching Post Ln, and an airbag was stolen from a vehicle in the 10600 block of Weymouth St. Police also reported a hate/bias incident in the 2700 block of Ross Rd on Sunday, where a suspect allegedly yelled slurs at a victim.
In the 3rd District, which includes Silver Spring, White Oak and Burtonsville, vehicles were reported stolen from the 9700 block of Mt. Pisgah Rd and the 13900 block of Castle Blvd. Police arrested a suspect following an aggravated assault inside an apartment in the 10100 block of Georgia Ave and made another arrest after a vehicle window was broken and property was taken in the 8700 block of Colesville Rd. A robbery was reported in the 8400 block of Colesville Rd, where a victim was assaulted and had property taken. Property was also taken during a residential burglary in the 11500 block of February Cir on Saturday. Police returned to the same block Sunday and arrested three suspects who were allegedly found inside a vacant apartment.
In the 4th District, which includes Wheaton, Glenmont, Olney and Brookeville, two suspects were detained following an attempted arson in the 12500 block of Atherton Dr early Friday. An airbag was stolen from a vehicle in the 14200 block of Grand Pre Rd, and an adult woman was injured during an aggravated assault in the 5500 block of Norbeck Rd. Police also arrested a man after allegedly finding a loaded handgun near Layhill Rd and Georgia Ave. On Sunday, a vehicle was stolen from the 2300 block of Cobble Hill Ter.
In the 5th District, which includes Germantown, Clarksburg and Damascus, tools were taken after a vehicle window was broken in the 19300 block of Archdale Rd on Sunday. Police also arrested a suspect accused of attempting to enter a home in the 19000 block of Queens Cross La. Stolen property was recovered during the arrest.
In the 6th District, which includes Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village, a vehicle was stolen from a parking lot in the 17600 block of Sequoia Dr between Thursday night and Friday morning. On Saturday, a handgun was found on a passenger during a traffic stop near Clopper Rd and Quince Orchard Rd. A victim suffered serious injuries during an aggravated assault in the 18700 block of Nathans Pl and was transported to an area hospital. Vehicles were also stolen from parking lots in the 8200 block of Whispering Oaks Way and the 8500 block of Snouffer School Rd.
