Armed Robbery, School Threat and Auto Thefts Included in August 24 Crime Summary

The Montgomery County Police Department shared an overview of reported calls for service from Monday, August 24. Police noted that the summary does not reflect every call for service received that day.

In the 1st District, which includes Rockville, Potomac and parts of North Bethesda, an aggravated assault was reported at 8:23pm in the 5900 block of Montrose Rd. Police said a victim was assaulted.

In the 2nd District, which includes Bethesda, Chevy Chase and portions of Potomac, a weapons offense was reported at 6:59am in the 4400 block of East West Hwy. According to police, a round was fired inside an apartment and traveled into a neighboring unit.

In the 3rd District, which includes Silver Spring, Burtonsville and White Oak, police reported a school burglary in the 13600 block of Robey Rd. The incident occurred Sunday, August 16, but was reported Monday. Property was taken from the school.

A vehicle was taken from the 12600 block of Eastbourne Dr sometime between 8pm Sunday and 9am Monday. Property was also taken from an apartment during a residential burglary in the 11500 block of Stewart Ln between noon and 5pm Monday.

At 10:41pm, a victim was threatened with a handgun in the 11500 block of Lockwood Dr. Police said the suspects left the area.

In the 4th District, which includes Wheaton, Aspen Hill, Olney and Brookeville, two vehicles were reported stolen. One was taken from the 3200 block of Whispering Pines Dr between 5pm Sunday and 7am Monday. The other was taken from the 3000 block of Bel Pre Rd at approximately 9:38am Monday.

Property was taken and the interior of a home was damaged during a residential burglary in the unit block of Baileys Ct between 8:25am and 6:26pm.

At approximately 1:30pm, a shooting threat was reported at a high school in the 300 block of Olney Sandy Spring Rd. Police investigated the threat and determined it was unfounded.

In the 5th District, which includes Germantown, Clarksburg and Damascus, a vehicle was taken from the 18200 block of Chalet Dr sometime between 6pm Sunday and 2am Monday.

An armed robbery was reported at 8:31am in the 13000 block of Robins Nest Ter. Police said a victim was threatened and had property taken.

In the 6th District, which includes Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village, two vehicles were reported stolen Monday. One was taken from the 17900 block of Cottonwood Ter at approximately 7:37am, while another was taken from the 800 block of Russell Ave at approximately 1:41pm.
