Ted’s Bulletin is preparing to open at 7715 Woodmont Ave. in Bethesda, taking over the property that was the longtime home of Woodmont Grill.
According to UrbanTurf, Ted’s Bulletin owner Steve Salis purchased the approximately 6,300 SF property from Hillstone Restaurant Group for $7 million. The deal closed last week, with plans to open the all-day diner in 2027.
The Bethesda restaurant would become Ted’s Bulletin’s 10th location in the Washington metropolitan area and its second in Montgomery County. Its only other county location opened at Downtown Crown in Gaithersburg in 2015. This location will be what has been described as a “next-gen prototype” that will be consistent with newer locations in NoMa, Ashburn, and Ballston.
Woodmont Grill ceased operations in late October 2025 after decades in Bethesda. The restaurant was formerly known as Houston’s before being renamed Woodmont Grill. “Woodmont Grill is now closed,” a sign posted on the restaurant’s door read at the time. “Thank you for choosing us as a dining destination and allowing us to be a part of your lives with many fond memories of good food and cheer. We hope to have the pleasure of seeing you again at one of our other restaurants.”
Hillstone Restaurant Group cited several operational challenges contributing to the closure, according to Axios. Those included reduced access to parking over the years and continued difficulties maintaining staffing levels that met the company’s standards. After reviewing where to allocate its resources, the group decided to focus on its other restaurants nationwide.
Ted’s Bulletin is an all-day American restaurant known for breakfast and brunch, burgers, sandwiches, salads, cocktails and its signature Ted’s Tarts. The concept is part of Salis’ Catalogue restaurant group, which is also behind Federalist Pig, Honeymoon Chicken, Sidekick Bakery and Kramers.
Catalogue previously operated Ensemble at 4856 Cordell Ave. in Bethesda for a little more than two years. The digital food hall offered pickup and delivery from a single kitchen, allowing customers to mix and match popular dishes from several Catalogue restaurant concepts. An exact opening date for the Bethesda Ted’s Bulletin has not been announced.
