A 44-year-old Gaithersburg man has been arrested and charged in connection with an attempted bank robbery Thursday morning in Gaithersburg.
According to the Montgomery County Department of Police, officers from the 1st District responded to the M&T Bank in the 12100 block of Darnestown Rd. at approximately 9:57am on Thursday, September 24, for the report of an attempted robbery.
Police said the suspect, later identified as Guarzmjon Aioubov, entered the bank, approached an employee behind the counter and passed a note demanding money and stating that he had a gun. When the employee delayed providing the money, Aioubov left the bank without receiving any money.
Detectives identified Aioubov as the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest. He was arrested later that same day and charged with attempted bank robbery. Aioubov was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where police said he is currently being held without bond.
