The Washington Spirit has set a new club record for single-season regular-season home attendance, surpassing 200,000 fans for the first time following Saturday evening’s sellout at Audi Field.
The September 26 crowd of 19,215 brought the Spirit’s season total to 205,367 fans through 13 home games, topping last year’s record of 186,152. Saturday marked the team’s fourth sellout of the season, with two home matches still remaining.
The Spirit is averaging 15,797 fans per home game this season, including 16,857 for weekend matches. According to the club, average home attendance has grown from more than 5,000 in 2021 to nearly 9,000 in 2022, nearly 11,000 in 2023 and nearly 14,000 in 2024. Last year, the Spirit became just the fourth women’s club in the world to average more than 15,000 fans per game.
To celebrate the milestone, the Spirit welcomed its 200,000th fan with confetti and a pink carpet. The fan and his group received premium seating upgrades, and he helped lead the “Rise Up DC” chant before the match.
The Spirit’s remaining regular-season home matches are against Gotham FC on Saturday, October 17, at 12:30pm and the Chicago Stars on Sunday, November 1, at 5pm for Fan Appreciation Day.
