Construction is progressing on Triveni Supermarket’s upcoming Germantown location, with the Indian and South Asian grocery store still hoping to open by the end of the year.
Triveni signed a lease earlier this year for the former Big Lots space at 20926 Frederick Rd in Germantown’s Milestone Shopping Center. The location will mark the chain’s first store in Montgomery County. The supermarket offers a large selection of Indian and South Asian groceries, spices, halal meat, fresh produce, household goods, pooja samagri and kitchen utensils.
Triveni stores also feature an in-house bakery and food court offering ready-to-eat Indian dishes, sweets and baked goods. According to the company, its bakeries prepare items including biscuits, puffs, pastries, wraps and cakes.
When we first reported on Triveni’s plans in July, an official opening date had not been announced, though the hope was to have the Germantown store open before the end of 2026. Construction is now visibly progressing at the space, and the year-end opening remains the target.
Triveni has expanded its presence across the U.S. with locations in North Carolina, Texas, South Carolina and Virginia, along with an existing Maryland location in Ellicott City.
