“I am here today to enthusiastically and 100% throw my strong endorsement behind your next governor, Kelly Schulz” proclaimed current Maryland Governor Larry Hogan. He made the announcement at an event for Schulz in Annapolis.
Hogan, who is term-limited, endorsed Republican gubernatorial candidate Kelly Schulz. Schulz announced in April 2021 that she would seek the Republican nomination for Governor of Maryland in 2022.
She served as Secretary of the Maryland Department of Commerce from January 2019 to January 2022 and as Secretary of the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation before that. Schulz has also served in the Maryland House of Delegates representing District 4A, Frederick County, Maryland.
The Maryland Republican primary is currently a three way race between Schulz, Trump-endorsed Delegate Dan Cox (which lead to a Twitter spat between Trump and Hogan), and disbarred Montgomery County attorney Robin Ficker.
