About the Speakers:

Haley McClanahan moved to New York to pursue her M.A. in Environmental Conservation Education at New York University. Like many, her interest in the natural world began as a child with a fascination with animals. This love of animals inspired her B.S. studies in Zoology at North Carolina State University where she engaged in an internship teaching about animals and nature at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. Since completing her degree Haley has been working with animals and environmental education in several institutions in New York City including the New York Aquarium and the Nature Company. As an educator, Haley is apt to combine both her passion for caring for the Environmental Education Center’s animal collection and encouraging others to become fascinated about nature in the urban environment.  Haley joined the Conservancy in 2016.

Elizabeth Harnett has worked at the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy since 2017.  Before joining the Conservancy, she gained a lot of volunteer experience at museums, zoos and arts festivals, and was eager to learn about the administrative side of this important work.  As the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy’s Volunteer Manager, she oversees all volunteer programs in the park, including horticulture & maintenance projects, corporate events, school groups, docents and much more.  She grew up in Brooklyn and has a B.A. in Art History from Bryn Mawr College and an M.A. in Cinema Studies from New York University.
