The Washington Commanders and a partnership led by MoCo native Josh Harris (Chevy Chase) have entered into a purchase and sale agreement, it was jointly announced on Friday, May 12th:
”We are very pleased to have reached an agreement for the sale of the Commanders franchise with Josh Harris, an area native, and his impressive group of partners. We look forward to the prompt completion of this transaction and to rooting for Josh and the team in the coming years.”
Per Adam Schefter, “The purchase and sale agreement calls for Josh Harris and partners to acquire the Washington Commanders from the Snyder family. The agreement is subject to NFL approval as well as the satisfaction of customary closing conditions.”
In April, Sportico reported that Dan Snyder reached an agreement in principle to sell the Washington Commanders (formerly Redskins) NFL football franchise to a group that includes NBA legend Magic Johnson, Philadelphia 76ers co-owner and Chevy Chase native Josh Harris, and Potomac billionaire Mitchell Rales for $6 billion. Synder purchased the Washington Redskins for $800 million in 1999 after the death of previous owner Jack Kent Cooke.
