When Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) Chief Scott Goldstein stepped down earlier this year after 8 years leading the department, John Kinsley was named Interim Chief. Kinsley officially retired on December 31st, 2023.
Earlier today, MCFRS Chief Spokesperson publicly thanks Kinsley for his service, which began 37 years ago as a volunteer/college live-in. In 1990, he was hired as career firefighter (Recruit Class 5) and has been with MCFRS ever since.
His last day with the department was on Sunday, December 31st, 2023. He spent the day riding at Fire Station 708 with his son, Evan, who was part of MCFRS Recruit class 46 in 2019.
