Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to multiple 911 calls that turned into a box alarm for what was initially reported as haze at approximately 6:30pm Friday evening at 3700 Bel Pre Rd. in Silver Spring.

According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, firefighters arrived to find a fire in the laundry room of the building. There were no injuries, but Code Enforcement was notified for non-working fire and smoke alarms.

It was found that the alarms were inoperable prior to the fire. Firefighters installed 10 smoke alarms in the building so that occupants could re-occupy.
