
Rockville Police arrested two individuals involved in an attempted strong-arm robbery and auto theft on Sunday, February 19.
Per the news release: Detectives with the Rockville City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit have charged Nelvin Reyes-Nieto, 18, and a juvenile, both of Rockville, in connection with an attempted strong-arm robbery and auto theft early this afternoon.
The incident began shortly after 11:30 a.m. when Rockville City Police officers responded to a call for a robbery near the intersection of Waddington Lane and Waddington Ct. Officers determined that two suspects had attempted to rob the victim of a cell phone and subsequently left the area in a Blue, Kia passenger car. A lookout was given for the vehicle and a short while later, other Rockville City Police officers located the vehicle traveling on E. Jefferson St. The vehicle had been reported stolen earlier in the day from the 1700BLK of Crawford Dr.
Joined by officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police, Rockville City Police officers followed the stolen vehicle into an apartment complex in the 6100BLK of Montrose Rd. Once in the apartment complex, Reyes-Nieto and the juvenile abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers quickly apprehended both suspects. Reyes-Nieto has been transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit and the juvenile has been charged through the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services. Both are charged with: Attempted Strong-Arm Robbery, Auto Theft, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Conspiracy to Commit Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Theft, Malicious Destruction of Property, and Rogue and Vagabond.
