Rockville Dog Earns #1 Spot on ‘WeRateDogs’ Top 10 Dogs of the Week

WeRateDogs is a popular Twitter/X account that rates people’s dogs on a scaled of 1-10 (with just about every dog exceeding the maximum rating) along with a humorous comment about the dog. The account was started in 2015 by college student Matt Nelson, and this week’s YouTube video included a dog from Rockville, MD coming in at #1 (full video below).

Molly, a dog who lives with her family in Rockville, earned the number one spot because of her heroic actions that prevented her family from being hurt in a fire last week. Molly was able to alert occupants of the fire even before the smoke alarms were activated, and though there was eventual damage to the home…everyone made it out safely and uninjured.

Nelson and his team of four receive 800 to 1,000 submissions daily and work to narrow them down to about one high-quality piece of dog content per day. The Twitter/X account has over 9 million followers and the Instagram account has nearly 4 million followers.
