Detectives Investigating Stolen Vehicle in Rockville

Montgomery County Police has released surveillance footage of suspect wanted in connection to a vehicle that was stolen earlier this month in Rockville.

Per the news release: Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit – Auto Crime Enforcement Section (ACES) are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects who stole a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. On Monday April 1, 2024, the owner of the Elantra reported that her vehicle had been stolen between the hours of 10 p.m. on March 31, and 8:45 a.m. the following day. The stolen Elantra was later recovered in the 200 block of Poplar Spring Road in Rockville.

The investigation has revealed that an unknown male suspect stole the victim’s vehicle at approximately 4:15 a.m. on Monday, April 1, 2024. The suspect fled the scene in the stolen Elantra, followed by a separate gray 2013-2016 Hyundai Elantra.

Detectives obtained video surveillance of one of the suspects.   The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 17 to 25-years-old, and 5-feet,10-inches tall to 6-feet, 2-inches tall. He weighs 160 to 180 pounds and was wearing a black baseball cap, yellow/green hooded winter coat, dark-colored jeans and black boots.

Tips may remain anonymous.
