Woman Arrested After Attempting to Rob Two McDonald’s at Gunpoint

A Damascus woman is currently being held without bond after attempting to rob two Montgomery County McDonald’s on Sunday, June 9.

Per the news release: 41-year-old Carrie Lynn Nelson has been arrested and charged with two separate attempted commercial armed robberies in Gaithersburg.

On June 9, 2024, at approximately 3:34 p.m., officers responded to the McDonald’s located in the 600 block of Quince Orchard Boulevard for the report of an attempted armed robbery.

The preliminary investigation by detectives has determined that Nelson, driving a gray Jeep Cherokee drove into the drive thru lane at McDonalds with a handgun on her lap. When the employee came to the window, Nelson announced the robbery by motioning toward the gun. The employee immediately closed the window and Nelson drove away from the business.

At approximately 3:52 p.m., Nelson drove into the drive thru of the McDonald’s in the 19300 block of Montgomery Village Avenue. When the employee came to the window, Nelson displayed a gun and announced the robbery. The employee closed the window and Nelson drove away from the scene of the incident.

A short time later, officers observed the gray Jeep Cherokee and initiated a traffic stop. The driver, identified as Carrie Lynn Nelson of Damascus, was taken into custody without incident.

Nelson was arrested and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where she has been charged with two counts of attempted armed robbery. She is currently being held without bond.
