The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington (ADW) sent a letter to Catholic school parents earlier today, stating that face coverings will no longer be required indoors in our Maryland school facilities for students, staff, or visitors beginning on Monday, February 21st.

The letter states that depending on the needs of each school’s leaders to prepare, schools will transition between February 21 and February 28. “We appreciate and will fully support whatever decisions that parents make for their own children regarding whether to wear a face covering in school or not.”

Damascus

Today was a reminder that spring is around the corner. Another reminder for many who grew up in MoCo is that March 17th means Jimmie Cone opens for the season.

Jimmie Cone has been serving soft serve ice cream and frozen yogurt in Damascus since 1962, which make this year its 60th season! One of the reasons Jimmie Cone’s soft serve ice cream is loved by many could be because it is made with 10 percent butterfat, which is approximately twice as much as in McDonald’s and Dairy Queen soft serve. Cars usually pack the Damascus location on warmer days with long lines that move relatively quick.

Bond Vet, a design-forward, tech-enabled brand of veterinary care clinics in New York, will be expanding to the D.C. Metro area with a new location in Bethesda, according to Forbes. It will be taking over a corner location at 7025 Bethesda Row, formerly home to Fitness Resource and a more recent Nook pop-up, where signage has already gone up according to local restaurant owner Wesley Yao.

In October, the company announced a $170 million investment from Warburg Pincus, a leading global growth investor. The funding will be used to expand Bond Vet’s footprint and invest in equipment, training, culture and technology to further improve the clinical experience for veterinarians, pets and pet parents alike. It will also start Bond Vet’s expansion into markets outside of New York, with the upcoming Bethesda location and another new location in the Boston area.
