Signage for Crumbl Cookies was added recently to a storefront in Rockville’s Federal Plaza. Crumbl Cookies is a nationwide bakery franchise that offers different freshly baked cookies each week.  They sell chocolate chip and sugar cookies every day, but the rest of their offerings rotate. Their flavors range from experimental (watermelon chilled sugar cookie), to cookie twists on classic desserts (peach cobbler cookie), to more traditional cookies (peanut butter brownie cookie, pictured here).

It does not seem like Crumbl will open anytime soon– the Crumbl website announced their new stores opening in July and the upcoming Rockville location was not included yet.

County Executive Marc Elrich will not announce Phase Three of MoCo’s reopening plan until about a week after the July 4 weekend, he said on Wednesday. Phase Three allows limited openings of concerts and theaters and decreased distancing requirements for gyms, places of worship, and other indoor gatherings.

Elrich and MoCo Health Officer Dr. Travis Gayles are delaying Phase Three to give officials time to analyze data and check for emerging hotspots of cases following the holiday weekend.

MoCo Fire and Rescue Services has repeatedly urged residents this week to remember that all fireworks and sparklers are illegal here. According to Chief Scott Goldstein, fireworks can injure bystanders, start fires, and scare pets.

Instead, tune in to “United Montgomery, Stronger Together” on Friday, July 3 at 8 PM to view a fireworks show, hear messages from elected officials, and listen to local musicians. MoCo had previously canceled in-person fireworks shows.
