WHY wait a whole month to start making some healthier changes in your life.

If you’re still thinking about waiting off on your fitness goals till January first to get your membership to the new Onelife gym that’s opening up in Rockville… you may think twice after reading what comes next…

It was expected that Top Golf would be ready by fall of this year, but anyone who has driven by the Century Blvd./ I-270 location has probably seen that it’s still just a big field.

A couple months back, I spoke with a Top Golf representative who told me that “it has been pushed back at this time” in response to me asking if the plans have changed. Without giving me any further details it looks like 2019 will be the year Top Golf comes to MoCo (I was assured they’re still coming).

MoCo

Inspired by the awesome replies to our “What’s something only people from MoCo know?” question we posted on social media, we decided to create a list of 100 things people from MoCo should know.

We know that not all of these will apply to everyone and that there are way more than 100 things we could have listed, but we believe we’ve compiled a pretty fun list. Enjoy!

MoCo History

The Anchor Inn was one of the most popular restaurants in MoCo for 50 years. Established in 1954 in the heart of Wheaton, The Anchor Inn was one of the first places in Montgomery County to apply for and receive their liquor license in 1964.

“Anchor Inn was part of traditions for many others in the community, said Scaggs, such as the Colesville Lions Club, Wheaton-Kensington Chamber of Commerce, Good Counsel High School and the Wheaton Volunteer Rescue Squad. The fund-raisers, high school events and community fellowship were a part of the family’s service to the area apart from serving quality food.”

Joel Rogozinski, a graduate of the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School in Rockville, and his fiancée Holly Bagwell opened their first location in an outdoor mall in Purcellville, VA this past August and wanted to take the opposite approach by opening an indoor location late this fall.

Holly saw a craft pop store as a teen in Alabama and wanted to open something similar ever since. This past April they put together a trailer and started attending events, selling their homemade pops as vendors. Just four months later they opened their first shop.

Fallsgrove

Anne, the owner, tells us that she has been vegan for over a decade and wanted to share the food she’s passionate for with the county she calls home.

The Good Counsel graduate is the creator of the entire menu and hopes to wow you with dishes such as the Vegball sub (vegballs are made of brown rice and various mushrooms, depending on what they have in for the day), the shredded medley bahn mi, and the no guilt burger (made of lentils, brown rice, and mushrooms). Everything on the menu is 100% plant-based.

Out of all the fitness and health questions I get, this one takes the cake:⁣⁣⁣
“How do I stay consistent?”⁣⁣⁣
OR ⁣⁣⁣
“How do I eat in moderation and not end up eating the entire bag of chips?”⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Sound familiar? ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
You are not alone.⁣⁣⁣
I’ve helped women who have struggled with this for years, myself included.⁣⁣⁣
I’ve been overweight my entire life up until I found my passion for health.⁣⁣⁣
I know how it feels to have food control you. ⁣⁣⁣
To not want to go out with friends because you know there’s going to be pizza and cake and you might think you’ll “ruin” your diet if you ate those things because you can’t control yourself. ⁣⁣⁣
To feel like a complete failure for allowing yourself to have holiday desserts.⁣⁣⁣
To lose weight, get stuck and then gain it all back and then some. ⁣⁣⁣
Feeling like you’re just STUCK in the same place and trapped in your mind and habits. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
This cycle needs to end.⁣⁣⁣
Especially with the holidays just a few weeks away. It can be hard to lose weight while still getting to enjoy your eggnog at holiday work events if you don’t have a plan. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Don’t allow yourself to go one more month with feeling this way, with staying in the same place, without seeing any change in your body but more importantly, change with your mindset.⁣⁣⁣
⁣Invest in your health the way you do other things that are important to you in your life. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣Go to the grocery store, get the foods you love but also get foods that you know are nutritious. It’s about balance and enjoying what you eat.
Start small and work your way up. You have 7 days during the week to fit in exercise.
Your workout doesn’t need to last hours: 30 min – 45 min three times per week will do the trick!
