White’s Ferry owners–Chuck and Stacy Kuhn–have formally offered to donate the White’s Ferry operation to Montgomery County. This most recent offer has been described by the Kuhn family as “part of their commitment to getting the ferry operational to preserve history, save jobs, and reduce traffic.”

In 2020 there were almost 5,800 movie theaters and drive-ins across the country. Just 15 years earlier though, there were more than 7,700 of these cinema sites. As populations grow and moviegoing habits change, the number of theaters continues to decline.

Having fulfilled the 2023 goal of establishing the Scotland Juneteenth Heritage Festival as one of the major cultural events centered around the national holiday in the DMV, Juneteenth Scotland Foundation Inc. will hold a press conference at 1 p.m. on April 19 at 7700 Scotland Drive to highlight key elements of the upcoming 2024 festival — including the names of the five other non-profit organizations which will share in the net proceeds.
Montgomery Donuts was a staple across Montgomery County (and beyond) for decades– starting with the first location in Silver Spring to a total of nine locations in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties at its peak. We caught up with Patrick Mayo, the grandson of the original founders who has worked every job in the company while his father owned it, and have everything you need to know about the local business that everyone misses– including which current donuts have the closest taste to those from Montgomery Donuts.
