A team of middle school students from Robert Frost Middle School in Rockville, MD won their regional competition for the 2024 National Science Bowl® (NSB) this past weekend and will compete in the NSB National Finals this spring, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), who sponsors the NSB, announced.

Monumental Sports Network (MNMT) announced today a slate of live alternate broadcasts for Washington Capitals and Wizards games on the local media platform. Through the end of the 2023-24 seasons, five alternate Capitals broadcasts and three Wizards alternate broadcasts will be available to sports fans throughout the DMV region, starting on Thursday, April 4 at 7:00 PM ET when the Capitals play the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Monday, April 1st is grand opening day for Montgomery College’s East County Education Center (ECEC) which is bringing the College’s unique services and academic programs to the residents of the East County to expand access in this region and to serve as an anchor institution in the community.

Beyond MoCo

At approximately 12:16 am early Sunday morning (March 31, 2024) Virginia State Police troopers were alerted to two vehicles attempting to race along I-395 southbound in Fairfax County. The driver of one of the two vehicles is 19-year-old Kennedy W. Mejia Medina, 19, of Silver Spring, who attempted to flee and crashed into two other vehicles while doing so.

With more than 7 in 10 U.S. adults being overweight and health care costs rising, the personal-finance website WalletHub today released its report on 2024’s Healthiest Cities in America, as well as expert commentary, to show where people are saving and costing themselves the most money. Washington D.C., the nearest of the 180 cities compared, came in fifth in the nation.
