Per Montgomery County: “The 2023 Self-Sufficiency Standard (SSS) report released by Montgomery County’s Community Action Agency shows substantial increases in the cost of living, particularly in housing and childcare costs. The Self-Sufficiency Standard describes how much income families of various sizes and compositions need to earn to live without public or private assistance in specific geographic areas.

Gaithersburg

The LuminoCity Winter Lights Festival is coming to the Montgomery County Fairgrounds (501 Perry Pkwy) in Gaithersburg later this month. According to its website, “LuminoCity was imagined through a desire to create unforgettable experiences. Using light and imagination, we can explore concepts of transforming creative thoughts, inspired by the world around us, into illuminating works of light and color. Per Montgomery County: “A Stakeholders Forum, hosted by the Montgomery County Department of Permitting Services (DPS), will be held from 8:30 a.m.-noon on Wednesday, Dec. 6, in the second-floor auditorium of the Wheaton headquarters of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC). The forum is designed for architects, builders, contractors, designers, developers, engineers, land use attorneys, permit expediters and other professionals. The M-NCPPC building is located at 2425 Reedie Drive in Wheaton.

Beyond MoCo

Dopamine Land is coming to 5333 Wisconsin, Ave NW in Washington, DC. Dopamine Land is “an indoor interactive sensory museum that combines media, technology and play into one place. It is a gallery made up of individual rooms that are aimed to trigger a gentle release of the happiness hormone ‘dopamine’. Beyond MoCo

Per the State of Maryland (11.14.23): “Today, Governor Wes Moore and Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller visited Frederick County. During the visit, the governor and lieutenant governor learned about community-based support organizations for veterans and immigrant populations, in addition to touring the site for the future Downtown Frederick Hotel and Conference Center.
