Per Montgomery County: The poster for the seventh annual Wheaton Arts Parade & Festival will be based on a design submitted by Fernando Santiago, a Silver Spring artist and resident. As the winner of poster contest, he will receive a cash prize of $500 donated by IHOP Wheaton. The poster contest was open to all residents of Montgomery County. After Mr. Santiago’s artwork was selected, Wheaton Arts Parade designer Josue Martinez of Corinto Gallery incorporated it into the design for the poster and T-shirt. It will be featured in all promotional materials leading up to the parade.

More than 50 festival tents are available in the 2023 festival for artists to rent to exhibit and sell their original artwork and for arts organizations and community organizations to promote their work. The day is inspired by the parade and the closure of roads so that people can pull giant floats and show off their art, play music and dance,

Maryland

To ensure a continuing supply of new telephone numbers, the Maryland Public Service Commission has approved an all-services area code overlay for the 240/301 area code region which serves all or portions of Aspen Hill, Bethesda, Bowie, Frederick, Gaithersburg, Germantown, Hagerstown, Potomac, Silver Spring, Waldorf, Wheaton, and many other small communities. The new 227 area code will serve the same geographic area currently served by the existing 240/301 area codes.

What is an Area Code Overlay? An overlay is the addition of another area code (227) to the same geographic region as an existing area code region (240/301). The overlay does not require you to change your existing area code or phone number, or how you dial your calls. You will continue to dial the area code and phone number for all local calls, as you do today, within and between the 240, 301, and new 227 area codes.

“In the State of Maryland, nobody should have to justify their own humanity,” said Gov. Moore. “This order is focused on ensuring Maryland is a safe place for gender affirming care, especially as other states take misguided and hateful steps to make gender affirming care cause for legal retribution. In Maryland, we are going to lead on this issue.”

“In signing this executive order, this administration is saying to all LGBTQIA+ Marylanders: You deserve to be your authentic selves — during Pride month and every month,” said Lt. Gov. Miller. “You deserve to live safely, openly, and freely; and receive the gender affirming care you need.”

Modern estate planning isn’t just about arranging for who inherits your money, real estate, physical belongings, and other assets when you die. Transferring digital assets, such as photos and social media accounts, as well as assets such as cryptocurrency, needs to be addressed in your estate plan. Otherwise, your data – and a lifetime of memories – can be lost. Most of us use our smartphones almost exclusively to interact with others and record our lives. It may be our only camera, portal to social media accounts, and main vehicle for texts and emails. . We often take for granted that we can access this data by simply looking into our smartphones, but what happens when we die? Fundamentally, all this data is just that – data. Without the ability to unlock a smartphone, or log into a social media account, your data can be irretrievably lost.

If you have not made arrangements for their digital assets, you may place additional burdens on your loved ones. To get into your key accounts family members will likely spend hours of time speaking with customer service to regain access. In addition, access itself is no longer a guarantee, and if an account goes dormant for too long, or if payment methods aren’t updated, all the data and possibly a lifetime of your memories may be deleted and lost forever.
