Postal Worker Robbed in Potomac, $50,000 Reward Offered for Information Leading to Arrest

US Postal Inspectors from the Washington Division and the Montgomery County Police Department are investigating an incident where a USPS mail carrier was robbed at gun point on Thursday, October 20, around 11:30am in the 7600blk of Coddle Harbor Ln in Potomac.  Per the United States Postal Inspection Service:

This is investigation is still in the preliminary stages. We are requesting that anyone with information regarding this incident contact the U.S. Postal Inspection Service at 1-877-876-2455. Callers may remain anonymous, and a reward is being offered up to $50,000 for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.”

The restaurant is part of Jeffeary Miskiri’s Miskiri Hospitality Group, which describes itself as a unique collective of Black, family and woman-owned products and restaurants in the DC area. Miss Toya’s will serve southern-influenced dishes such as red beans and rice, macaroni and cheese and a southern fried chicken sandwich. It will be joining the recently announced Sportrock Climbing Centers and Charley Prime as well as the recently opened Donutchew, as locally-based businesses opening in Gaithersburg’s Rio. No opening date has been provided.

U.S. Naval Officer and Girlfriend Charged Federally for Cyberstalking, Aggravated Identity Theft, and Conspiracy for a Campaign to Harass Ex-Wife

The defendants are scheduled to have initial appearances beginning at 3:00 p.m. today, in U.S. District Court in Baltimore before U.S. Magistrate Judge J. Mark Coulson.

The federal charges were announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Erek L. Barron; Special Agent in Charge Thomas J. Sobocinski of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Baltimore Field Office; Special Agent in Charge Alison F. Zavada of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS); Special Agent in Charge Craig Miles of the U.S. Department of Transportation Office of Inspector General (USDOT OIG); Chief Marcus Jones of the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD); and Chief Paul W. Neudigate of the Virginia Beach, Virginia Police Department (VBPD).

Día de los Muertos Altar Exhibit on Display in Gaithersburg Beginning October 30

The Multicultural Affairs Committee & DeColores Mexican Folk Dance Company will be presenting a Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) alter exhibit at the Activity Center at Bohrer Park (506 South Frederick Ave) in Gaithersburg.  The display will run October 30 through November 5 and viewing hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 10 p.m., and  Saturday & Sunday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Admission is free and the City of Gaithersburg advises that early voting & Election Day voting taking place at the Activity Center October 27 through November 3 and to anticipate crowds.

The rituals are rife with symbolic meaning. The more you understand about this feast for the senses, the more you will appreciate it.

Rockville City Police Department to Hold “Boo Bash”

All costumed cuties big and small are welcome for a free afternoon of trunk or treating, facepainting, glitter tattoos, pumpkin decorating, a spooky sweet haunted house, costume contest for children and adults, and of course no tricks – just treats, while supplies last, and more! This event is weather permitting.

Free parking will be available at City of Rockville meters during the event or two blocks away at City Hall, 111 Maryland Ave.

County Executive Marc Elrich and Maryland’s First Lady Yumi Hogan attended a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, October 18, to mark the beginning of construction at the UNDBIO’s new U.S. R&D headquarters at 12441 Parklawn Drive in Rockville. Addition details below per the State of Maryland:

ANNAPOLIS, MD—First Lady Yumi Hogan attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday to begin the laboratory construction and build-out of South Korean pharmaceutical company UNDBIO’s new U.S. R&D headquarters in Rockville. UNDBIO’s international arrival to Maryland was announced last month during Governor Larry Hogan’s trade and investment mission to Asia.
