Gaithersburg

&pizza tells us that opening dates sometimes change due to construction, but the scheduled opening date for this location is March 9. The store will be open daily from 11am-11pm.


MoCo

Montgomery County Council, acting as the Board of Health, will not be introducing a new Board of Health regulation to extend the indoor mask requirement and will allow the current Board of Health regulation to terminate next Monday, February 21 at 11:59pm.

The Montgomery County Board of Education is set to take up the school system’s mask policy at a meeting on February 24, according to WTOP.


Bethesda

Montgomery County Police responded to a “domestic related event” this morning around 11am at the Holton Arms School at 7303 River Rd. in Bethesda. The private school was placed on lockdown while the situation was handled by police.

A suspect is now in custody and the school is no longer on lockdown, according to a tweet by MCPD.  This is an active and ongoing investigation.

WHEATON, Md. – Montgomery Parks(opens in a new tab), part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, is extending the hours for its Open Parkways initiative (opens in a new tab)for the Presidents Day holiday weekend through Tuesday, February 22, at 7 a.m.


MoCo Government

Back on January 25, the Montgomery County Council voted unanimously for a new public health order, which keeps the current indoor mask mandate in place until February 21 at 11:59pm. That mandate will automatically terminate if there is no further action by the Board of Health.

During todays media briefing, council President Gabe Albornoz said, “it’s appropriate for us to be able to move forward with eliminating the mask mandate after the 21st. Especially if the numbers continue to go down.”


Germantown

Update: All lanes of Frederick Rd/355 have reopened at Shakespeare Blvd.

Hazmat, police, and fire and rescue are currently on the scene of an overturned diesel fuel tanker (2500 gal) in Germantown in the area of Frederick Rd.  and Shakespeare Blvd., according to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer.
