The City of Takoma Park has been recognized by Carbon Disclosure Project(CDP) as one of the top 95 cities out of 1,100 cities across the globe, taking bold leadership on environmental action and transparency, despite the continued pressures of tackling the coronavirus pandemic on local and national economies and societies.


Gaithersburg

Per the City of Gaithersburg:

The City of Gaithersburg earned a score of 100 points in the 10th annual Municipal Equality Index, an initiative of the Human Rights Campaign that examines the inclusivity of laws, policies and services with respect to the LGBTQ+ community. The City’s score in 2020 was 93. The Index used 49 different criteria to rate 506 cities across the country. The average score nationally was 67, up three points from 2020.


Gaithersburg

Per the City of Gaithersburg:

Detectives from the Gaithersburg Police DepartmentInvestigative Section are investigating a church burglary of St. Martin of Tours in Gaithersburg. Detectives are releasing surveillance photos of two males as persons of interest and are asking for the public’s help in identifying them.


Maryland

Per the State of Maryland:

ANNAPOLIS, MD—Governor Larry Hogan today announced Maryland as the first state in the country to become a partner in the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Better Climate Challenge. The “lead by example” partnership agreement, signed by Secretary Ben Grumbles of the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE), commits the state to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in state government operations by at least 50% within 10 years.
