When residents across the county put in their orders for $5 gyros at Big Greek Cafe on Wednesday, July 14th, they saw that the price had increased to $6– the first time the price of the Wednesday gyro special had increased in over a decade.
“Since 2009 we’ve held onto that price of $5 gyro. Unfortunately due to the rise in cost due to the current drastic increases, we can no longer sustain that price and we had to make the hard decision to raise the price by $1” Big Greek Cafe ownership told us.
While a couple folks went to social media to mention the slight increase, most defended the beloved Greek restaurant’s decision to add $1 to the price…which is still over 30% less than the regular price of $8.95.
Big Greek Cafe currently has five MoCo locations (Bethesda, Downtown Silver Spring, Hillandale, Kensington, and Rockville) as well as their food truck “Big Greek on Wheels.”
