Flood Warning in Effect for All of MoCo Until 4pm

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Warning for all of Montgomery County from now until 4pm this afternoon. Per the NWS:

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE…Portions of DC, central Maryland and northern Virginia, including the following areas: District of Columbia. In central Maryland, Montgomery and Prince Georges. In northern Virginia, Arlington, City of Alexandria, City of Fairfax, City of Falls Church, City of Manassas, City of Manassas Park, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William.

* WHEN…Until 400 PM EDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS…Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Expect areas of slow moving or standing water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… – At 733 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain. Flooding is already occurring in the warned area, especially in Fairfax County, and additional flooding could occur as the day progresses.

Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. – Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. – Some locations that will experience flooding include:

Arlington… Alexandria… Germantown… Centreville… Dale City… Rockville… Bethesda… Gaithersburg… Reston… Bowie… Leesburg… Annandale… Clinton… Olney… Springfield… College Park… South Riding… Fort Washington… Herndon… Greenbelt…

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
