La Tasca has closed permanently in Rockville Town Square.
A few days after the Washington Business Journal announced that La Tasca filed for bankruptcy, the Kensington-based restaurant sent out an email stating the following:
“ On May 19, 2020, La Tasca, Inc. filed a chapter 7 bankruptcy petition in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland, Case No. 20-15357 and is no longer in business.
We thank you for over fifteen years of support and patronage.”
Just two nights ago we were told the company had not made a decision on its two remaining locations (Rockville and Alexandria), but it looks like a decision was made.
We are sad to see La Tasca go and Rockville Town Square is now faced with the task of filling four rather large spaces with the exits of Gordon Biersch, Bar Louie, Pandora, and La Tasca.

Chapter 7 is liquidation, no schedule to pay creditors. Was this due to Covid closures ? Any idea how many small businesses in the County are failing and won’t return? Timing is everything and those that will make out, are ventures starting up in near future. The mass of failures create a vacuum and lower the barrier to entry for the new entrepreneur to swoop in.
This is so sad. I love the Town Square and am sad to see energy leave.
