Update: Sardi’s is reopening Tuesday morning for regular hours.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a “smoldering fire” at the Olney Shopping Center on Monday evening around 6pm. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, firefighters are currently on the scene checking the chimney/exhaust system at the Sardi’s restaurant (3418 Olney Laytonsville Rd.) The restaurant has been evacuated and the health inspector and code enforcement have been notified.
