The Montgomery County Council will meet Wednesday, May 6 to continue reviewing the Fiscal Year 2027 operating budget, focusing on housing, transportation, and environmental services, including proposed decreases for housing programs and increases in transportation funding such as expanded bus service and Vision Zero safety efforts.

Join Kaiser Permanente for Healthy at the Harbor, a free community health and wellness event taking place Saturday, June 6, from 11 am to 4 pm at National Harbor in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Bring your family and friends for free full day of fun, fitness, and preventive care along the waterfront.

Throughout the day, Kaiser Permanente nurses and physicians will offer no-cost health screenings, alongside a health and wellness expo focused on preventive care education. A lively Kids’ Zone will keep children active and entertained with spin-art bikes, face painting, balloon art, games, and more.

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation has launched a countywide initiative to inspect and repair pedestrian signals, beginning with a “Pedestrian Signal Repair Blitz” targeting about 100 intersections in high-traffic areas such as Bethesda, Silver Spring, and Wheaton.

Update: MCPS has lifted the HOLD status and Walt Whitman HS is back to normal operation. Officers are still on scene.
