“The city of Gaithersburg is a growing and ever evolving running and walking community. As it continues to grow, we are excited to help the community grow and thrive. There is a very diverse and inclusive community in Gaithersburg and we are pumped to bring our community focused experience to Gaithersburg.” Josh and Kara Levinson started Charm City Run in 2002 in Timonium, MD.  Josh is from Baltimore and Kara hails from Route 29 in Howard County, via Greenville, SC.

Back in June of 2020 we let you know that Ela Mesa Taste of Greece would be coming to the Spectrum Town Center in Gaithersburg. After almost two years, the restaurant has announced it will hold its grand opening on Monday, May 2nd. The new Greek restaurant is located at 109 Paramount Park Drive in the Spectrum Town Center in Gaithersburg, which is currently home to restaurants like Barking Made Cafe, California Tortilla, Hot Pot Hero, and Firebirds.

The pandemic, coupled with permitting and supply chain issues, caused the delays in the restaurant’s opening. The restaurant will offer traditional Greek fare and will also have a full bar that seats 10 people. Ela Mesa will be open Monday through Saturday 11am-10pm, and Sunday 11am-9pm.

Germantown

The Lincoln Assassination Connection, by Susan Soderberg

Many of you who have seen the recent movie The Conspirator will know that George Andrew Atzerodt (alias Andrew Atwood), was one of the Lincoln assassination conspirators executed on July 7, 1865. Atzerodt was arrested in Germantown, the town where he had spent many years as a boy. How he got involved with the Booth gang and why he ended up back in Germantown is a compelling story.
