Gaithersburg

Gaithersburg City planning staff is recommending approval of a major redevelopment plan for Rio-Washingtonian Center that would bring 463 new apartments, more than 41,000SF of retail space, and several new public amenities to the popular Gaithersburg destination. The Gaithersburg Mayor and City Council is expected to hold its policy discussion and take final action on Monday, July 20.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) has released additional details about Tuesday evening’s house fire in the 18700 block of Calypso Place in Gaithersburg, which caused an estimated $800,000 in damage and left one firefighter and one civilian injured. (more…)


Attorney General

Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown has joined a coalition of 42 attorneys general in announcing an $18 million settlement with 23andMe over the company’s 2023 data breach, which exposed the personal and genetic information of 6.9 million customers worldwide, including 94,298 Maryland residents.
