Pollo Campero in Silver Spring Has Closed

Pollo Campero at 8662 Colesville Rd in Silver Spring has permanently closed. According to a report by Source of the Spring, the restaurants last day in business was this past Monday, December 27.

The fried chicken chain, which originated in Guatemala, opened their location in 1971 and has grown to over 400 locations worldwide, including over 70 in the United States.

The Silver Spring location opened in 2017.

The chain still has Montgomery County locations in Gaithersburg (Lakeforest Mall), Takoma Park, and Wheaton.

Menu items include fried and grilled chicken, empanadas, yuca, plantains, salad, and flan.

There is an enormous Guatemalan and Salvadorean population in SS so this is surprising.
I guess the offices in downtown SS working from home caused no luncntime crowd and that severely lessened business?

This covid19 pandemic is still going and hurting.
