Severe Damage Caused By Saturday Afternoon Storm

A severe thunderstorm that rolled into the late afternoon on Saturday, July 29th has caused damage in several parts of Montgomery County (a thunderstorm caused severe damage on Friday, July 28 as well). There are power outages across the county. Reminder: Treat traffic lights without a signal as four-way stops. Incidents reported and photos below:

• 12200 Braxfield Court near Academy Way, Rockville, large tree down, no injuries, tree landed in front of four-story apartment building

• 719 Monroe St., near Waddington Lane, Rockville, lightning strike

• 6100blk Tilden lane. Many trees and power lines down. Road is closed no power (power out) in area (Featured photo)

• Charles Road, tree onto a house, involves two (2) houses, significant structural damage, five adults and five children displaced (Silver Spring)

• Clara Barton, Parkway and MacArthur Boulevard, collision, tree onto a car, some lanes blocked (Potomac)

• 6000 Cromwell Drive near Devonshire Drive, tree onto a house (Bethesda)

• 500 Albany Ave., Near Baltimore Avenue, Takoma Park, tree onto a house
