The Earle B. Wood Middle School community is mourning the loss of Mr. Bill Allen, who passed away suddenly on Friday night. Mr. Allen was a physical education teacher at Wood Middle School for 52 years before retiring last June.
Below is a letter to the Wood Middle School community from principal Heidi Slatcoff. Our condolences to his family, friends, coworkers and students.
Dear Wood Families,
It is with great sadness that I must inform you of the death of Bill Allen, our former PE teacher at Earle B. Wood
Middle School. Mr. Allen dedicated himself to the Wood
Middle School for 52 years. Before retiring last year he
taught our current students, parents of students and most
recently grandparents of students. Mr. Allen passed
away unexpectedly Friday, May 20th, The entire Wood
Middle School community extends its heartfelt sympathy
to the Allen family.Since it is often difficult for us to think or talk about
death, the attached suggestions, below, may be helpful as
you and your child address this issue. Your child may
have questions and worries about this loss and our staff
are available to assist and support you. We will inform the
community regarding arrangements as soon as we receive
additional information from the family.I know you join me in extending our heartfelt sympathy
to the Allen family during this difficult time. If you have
