Per Montgomery County: Montgomery County Recreation and Friends of the Potomac Community Center will be joined by elected officials and community members at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 24, to dedicate a new Outdoor Fitness Park at the Potomac Community Recreation Center. The Potomac Community Recreation Center is located at 11315 Falls Road in Potomac. This outdoor area will provide access to fitness opportunities throughout the year. Community members of all ages will be able to exercise together to enhance mental and physical wellbeing. This site is handicap accessible.

The Friends of the Potomac Community Center, in partnership with the State of Maryland Community Grant and Montgomery County Recreation, selected the space above the community center playing fields for the fitness park. The $295,000 project included funds from a State of Maryland grant and fundraising efforts by The Friends of the Potomac Community Center. The new fitness park works to meet the goals of The Friends of the Potomac Community Center fitness, health and wellness initiative.


According to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office, “This afternoon, in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD, before the Honorable John Maloney, a jury convicted defendant, David Lee Brown III, 29, of Washington D.C. on charges of attempted voluntary manslaughter, first-degree assault, and use of a handgun. He faces up to 55 years in prison when he is sentenced on November 20th, 2023.

This stems from an incident at the Clyde’s Restaurant in Chevy Chase on November 14th, 2022, that began as an altercation between Brown and a woman.  Several people came to the woman’s defense and a physical altercation ensued. Brown pistol-whipped one male victim and shot another man. The shooting took place outdoors, but the fight then continued inside of the establishment sending employees running for cover.”


Per the United States Department of Justice:  A Maryland man has been arrested on felony and misdemeanor charges, including assaulting law enforcement, related to his actions during the breach of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. His actions and the actions of others disrupted a joint session of the U.S. Congress convened to ascertain and count the electoral votes related to the 2020 presidential election.

Steven Patrick Cook, 24, of Bethesda, Maryland, is charged in a criminal complaint filed in the District of Columbia with two felony offenses of assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers and obstruction of law enforcement during civil disorder. In addition to the felonies, Cook is charged with several misdemeanors, including entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, and engaging in physical violence in a restricted building or grounds. Cook was arrested in Virginia on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023, and made his initial appearance today in the District of Columbia.

Aventino will feature vibrant and traditional Roman cuisine with a menu of antipasti, pasta and more by chef Mike Friedman, and classic cocktails like a selection of spritzes and negronis, in a warm and inviting setting that can hold over 100 guests. Per Washingtonian,the menu will include “dishes like Jewish-­style fried artichokes, polenta-crusted fluke, and housemade gelato.”


Butter Chicken House in the Montgomery Mall food terrace is currently holding its soft opening. The restaurant is located in the space that was recently home to Ya Mon! Island Grill, next door to Chick-Fil-A. Ya Mon Island Grill closed over the summer. According to its website, “Butter chicken, also known as “Murgh Makhani,” is a mouthwatering and beloved dish in Indian cuisine. It’s a rich and flavorful dish that combines tender pieces of chicken with a creamy and aromatic tomato-based sauce. The flavors are a perfect balance of savory, creamy, tangy, and mildly spicy, making it an absolute delight for the taste buds.”

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 2nd District Investigations Division are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two suspects who stole packages and mail from an apartment complex in Bethesda.

On August 19, 2023, 2nd District officers responded to the 5400 block of Westbard Ave. for the report of a theft that occurred earlier. The investigation by detectives has determined that two suspects entered the secured building, after a resident opened the lobby door to pick up a food delivery. Once in the building, the suspects stole multiple packages belonging to residents. Detectives obtained surveillance video of the suspects.


Per Imagination Stage: Imagination Stage, the metro DC region’s largest professional theatre for young audiences and leader in positive youth development through the arts, is hosting the Arts for All! Children’s Fest on October 21 from 10:00-1:00 at Imagination Stage in Bethesda. The festival is a FREE, fun, hands-on celebration of performing and visual arts especially for children ages 1-8. Four DMV arts organizations are partnering and leading lively workshops.
