Sears Montgomery Mall Location To Close

On January, we were the first to report that Sears filed a notice stating their Montgomery Mall location would be closing on March 18th, 2018. Sears later claimed they accidentally filed the notice and that they signed a new lease the mall.

The plan, according to Westfield, is for the Sears building to be replaced by a mixed-use center that will contain upscale restaurants, housing, high-end shops, walkways, and a promenade reminiscent to Tyson’s Corner (where Shake Shack is located just outside of the mall itself).

Potomac Native And Churchill Graduate Is Responsible For Fortnite

Sweeney was born and raised in Potomac, graduating from Winston Churchill High School in 1988. His first game, ZZT, was made on his computer at his parents home in Potomac, when he’d commute home on the weekends from College Park. It’s considered responsible for the early growth of the company when it was made in 1991.

In 1992, the company name was changed to Epic MegaGames and Sweeney worked hard to grow from a one-person operation to a company with 50 employees by 1997. In 1999, they dropped the “Mega” and Epic Games relocated to Cary, North Carolina.

Menchie’s Has Closed Their Only MoCo Location (Montgomery Mall)

Earlier this month they closed their only MoCo location (Montgomery Mall). Menchie’s opened last February and made it about 15 months before closing.

Heckman’s Deli In Bethesda Sold, Will Serve Ethiopian Food

The sign on the door states that the new owner will continue to sell beer and wine and will switch to Ethiopian food going forward.
