La Paz, located at 51 South Market Street in Downtown Frederick, has announced it will close its doors on Sunday, December 8, after 46 years in business. A Frederick staple since 1978, the restaurant is known for its margaritas and outside patio seating along the Carroll Creek. La Paz will be replaced by a new concept set to open in 2025.|

Sailing Through The Winter Solstice begins annually in November, when a number of boats, transformed through the “creative minds of many Frederick friends”, set sail on the Creek. The boats are anchored in Carroll Creek (50 Carroll Creek Way, Frederick, MD 21701), between Market Street and Carroll Street in Frederick County. After closing its doors in January 2020 following seven years in downtown Frederick, Ayse Meze Lounge is poised to return to the culinary scene—this time about 25 miles south as AYSE. Nezih Pistar, the driving force behind the Mediterranean restaurant named for his mother, has applied for a liquor license on behalf of AYSE for the new location at 700 King Farm Rd. in Rockville’s King Farm neighborhood.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) are actively assisting in a search operation for a missing person presumed to have drowned in the Potomac River, in coordination with Frederick County authorities. The missing person is believed to have entered the water near Point of Rocks in Frederick County.
