Some Fatburger restaurants have liquor licenses as well as “Fat Bars”. Its franchise headquarters are in Beverly Hills, California. In addition to the United States, the chain operates in 19 other countries, and there are east coast locations in Virginia, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

Earlier this month Johns Hopkins announced that it may be leaving the CareFirst network as soon as December 5th, citing lower pay from the insurance company through the following statement, “What CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (CareFirst) pays Johns Hopkins’ doctors, nurses and other caregivers has not kept up with inflation. In fact, what CareFirst insurance pays for Johns Hopkins’ care is lower than what most other area insurance companies pay. It is very hard for Johns Hopkins — or any health care system — to provide care at the rates we are currently paid by CareFirst.

On Friday, September 23, Johns Hopkins provided the following update, “Until December 5, 2022, Johns Hopkins caregivers will remain in-network for patients who have CareFirst health insurance. We continue to regularly meet with CareFirst and are doing everything we can to come to a fair agreement before December, so that there is no change in coverage.

“Maryland and Japan share many connections that are perhaps most apparent through our sister state-prefecture relationship with Kanagawa, which continues to be one of our oldest and most important sister state relationships in the world,” said Governor Hogan. “We are so pleased to have the chance to finally celebrate the 40th anniversary milestone of this thriving partnership.”

The Sister State relationship, which was established in 1981, was initially inspired by the common geographic features of the two regions: both have mountains, beaches, a large bay, and are located in close proximity to their respective nation’s capital. Since then, Kanagawa and Maryland have built strong ties through business cooperation and academic exchange.

“I want to sincerely thank Minister Park for graciously naming me as Korea’s first honorary Minister of Veterans Affairs,” said Governor Hogan. “The First Lady tells every Korean War veteran that she meets that she would not be where she is today if it were not for the dedication and sacrifice of the brave servicemembers who fought for freedom for South Korea. We will continue to stand with and support all of these heroes, whose bravery stands as a reminder of the immeasurable cost of war and the immense cost of freedom.”

Last year, Governor Hogan and First Lady Yumi Hogan joined former Korean President Moon Jae-In at a groundbreaking ceremony for the Wall of Remembrance at  the Korean War Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. The State of Maryland committed $250,000 to the Korean War Veterans Memorial Foundation to support the ongoing maintenance of the wall.

On May 4, 2006, the body of Dusty Myriah Shuck, 24, of Silver City, New Mexico was discovered near a rest stop in Frederick County, Maryland by a passing motorist. Shuck was last seen in New Mexico on April 24, 2006 at a local hotel. Days later she was found wearing a tank top, a hooded sweatshirt and sweat pants. She was found without shoes or any identification and lying on the shoulder of eastbound I-70, east of New Market, Maryland. The only clues to identify her were two dragon tattoos located on her back with the words “Gypsy Rose” written beneath them. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in 2006 ruled her death as a homicide caused by stabbing and blunt force trauma.

The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit immediately launched an investigation. Crime scene technicians from the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division responded and processed the scene for evidence. Limited evidence was left at the scene.

A Facebook page for “In-N-Out Burger Hagerstown”, that was created on Wednesday, September 14th, has been shared over 700 times in the 20 hours since the page was made. The page is not an official In-N-Out Burger page, and a new restaurant is not coming to Hagerstown.

In-N-Out Burger is an American regional chain of fast food restaurants with locations primarily in California and the Southwest. The chain’s location closest to us is in the Forth Worth, Texas area. So why aren’t there any In-N-Out restaurants on the east coast? According to Reader’s Digest, “The company refuses to sell frozen patties to ensure that customers are only eating the highest-quality meat, according to the official website. That’s why all In-N-Out restaurant locations are within 300 miles of In-N-Out’s patty-making facilities. These facility locations are only in California and Texas, hence the lack of any East Coast locations. This commitment to fresh food applies to other key ingredients, too—the fries are hand-cut, the lettuce is hand-leafed, and the buns are freshly baked. Not to mention, the chain locations don’t have any freezers or microwaves.
