Yuvan Sundrani (sophomore information science major at UMD), Jason Steinberg (sophomore computer science major at UMD), and Sid Jagtap (sophomore finance major at the University of Michigan) are launching an exciting new app called Soshi. Simply put, the app allows users to share all of their social media and contact information in one place with one tap.

These students were amongst the many seniors to miss out on the end of the year senior fun and started freshman year behind a screen. Quarantine left everyone with a little extra time on their hands. Jason Steinberg and Sid Jagtap founded MoCo Tutors, an affordable digital tutoring service aimed at helping Montgomery County students struggling with virtual instruction. Meanwhile, Yuvan Sundrani gained some experience and insight while interning with the artificial intelligence laboratory at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg as a Data Engineer Intern.


Potomac Native Christopher Williams Chosen by NASA as a New Astronaut Candidate; Over 12,000 Applied 

Earlier today, NASA announced that they had selected a class of new astronaut candidates. Out of over 12,000 hopefuls who applied, only 10 were selected.  


Beginning on Friday, December 3 at 7AM, Maryland State Highway Administration contractors will implement long-term continuous lane closures on Northbound US-15 in Thurmont, Frederick County.

Crews will be replacing the bridge deck (concrete driving surface) on Northbound US-15 above MD 77 (West Main Street) and Hunting Creek. Northbound US-15 will be reduced to a single lane for six to eight months during both phases of this two-phase bridge rehabilitation. Southbound US-15 will not be affected by this project.


The Washington Wizards have brought back the popular postgame concert series for the current season. The team is looking to provide a great time for fans who are enjoying the Wizards’ hot start, as the team is currently 11-5.

Earlier this month, the Wizards brought in local legends, Backyard Band, DC Vybe Band, DJ Ezzy, and TCB to perform following a game.


On the heels of the Howard County Public School System approving one additional early release day each month from December through May, Anne Arundel County Public Schools Superintendent George Arlotto announced that he will formally recommend adding three early dismissal days for students to allow staff and students personal time to focus on their individual wellness.

Dr. Arlotto and his staff have been having discussions about the initiative for several weeks. The changes would require the Board of Education to alter the current school year calendar.


The Rockefeller Center announced that this year’s Christmas tree is from Elkton, Maryland.

For more than eight decades, the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree has stood as a holiday beacon for New Yorkers and visitors alike. While the lights, decorations, and stars have changed through the years, visiting the Tree remains a quintessential New York experience.


The Howard County Public School Board of Education voted 8-0 in favor of a motion to “add in one additional 3-hour early dismissal each month for all students beginning December 2021 through May 2022.” The purpose of the calendar modification is to “provide school-based staff with additional time to address increased staff workload and to support employee well-being.”
