Walt Whitman High School senior Ryan Sawyer Robbins, 17, has been named one of the Top Five finalists in Broadway World’s Next on Stage, a national musical theater competition that highlights standout high school performers from across the country. Robbins advanced through multiple elimination rounds, performing a range of musical theater selections to rise above hundreds of student competitors nationwide.

Zoo Mantality, known as The Zoo, was founded in 2024 by Montgomery County natives Khamari Williams (Avalon), Raphael Ayala (Northwest High School) and Rodney Snider (Northwest High School). What began as a few men trying to better themselves through fitness has evolved into a brotherhood rooted in accountability, purpose, community, and support. Now, they’re introducing workout battles to Montgomery County.

Montgomery County was proudly represented on one of the biggest financial stages in the world this week as Dimitri Moshovitis, co-founder of CAVA and alumnus of Quince Orchard High School, joined the Greek and Greek-American delegation at the New York Stock Exchange for its annual Greek-American Issuer Day bell-ringing ceremony on Wednesday, December 10th.

The Stained Glass Pub community is grieving the loss of longtime team member Sherri Fisher, who passed away on December 3, 2025, surrounded by her family. The restaurant announced her passing in an emotional message, calling Sherri “truly irreplaceable” and “more than a team member — she was family.”

Multiple coyote sightings have been reported to us in recent days across several parts of Montgomery County, including Burtonsville, Clarksburg, and Poolesville. While coyotes have long been present in the region, the frequency of new reports suggests an uptick in activity as colder weather has arrived and food sources shift.

Tuesday, December 9th marks the 67th day of school for MCPS, a milestone that has taken on unexpected cultural significance thanks to a simple phrase, or rather, a simple pair of numbers, that has swept through classrooms, hallways, and social media with surprising force.


Residents in Montgomery County, the state of Maryland, and across the country are receiving fraudulent text messages claiming to be from Amazon about a “safety recall” on a recently purchased product. The message, which appears professional at first glance, instructs recipients to stop using the supposed product immediately and to click a link for a refund. It also includes a fake order ID and emphasizes that “your safety is our top priority.”
