Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announced earlier this week the arrest of a man involved in the fatal shooting of a Montgomery County man during an armed robbery of a business and continue the search for a second suspect.
On May 10, 2024, shortly after 5:00 p.m., the Rockville City Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing in the 300 block of N. Washington Street. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male, 78, suffering from a single stab wound to his upper torso.

A Silver Spring man was sentenced today for a murder that occurred in February 2022 in Rockville.
John Vigna, 57, of Silver Spring, a former Montgomery County Public Schools teacher who pleaded guilty in March to one count of Sexual Child Abuse and three counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor, was sentenced today in Rockville. Vigna was originally sentenced to 48 years in prison in 2017 but that conviction was overturned last year and he was released on bond as he awaited a new trial. (more…)
