75-year-old Robert Worrell of Brookeville, MD, was indicted on Thursday, July 28, 2022, on felony hit and run charges, after fatally striking 64-year-old Robert Lawrence, the morning of Friday, August 11, 2020, with his Ford F-250 in the 4100 block of Bel Pre Rd. in Silver Spring.

Lawrence, of Silver Spring, was transported to an area hospital, where he died three days later. During the course of the investigation, Montgomery County Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) detectives were able to obtain evidence identifying Worrell as the driver of the truck that struck and killed Lawrence.


On Friday, August 19th in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD, Judge David Boynton sentenced defendant, Noe Daniel Suriel, 29, of Silver Spring to five years in prison for his role in the death of Rene Antonio Hernandez Jr. Additional details can be found below in the press release sent out at the time of conviction:

In the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD, before the honorable Judge David Boynton, a jury has found defendant, Noe Daniel Suriel, 29, of Silver Spring, guilty of Driving a Motor Vehicle in a Race or Speed Contest and Gross Negligent Manslaughter by Motor Vehicle for the death of Rene Antonio Hernandez Jr., 32, of Olney. Suriel is facing a maximum of 10-years in prison. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for August 19th, 2022. The verdict came in late last night and stems from Suriel’s role in a multiple-vehicle fatal collision that occurred on September 6th, 2019, along Georgia Avenue at an entrance ramp for MD 200 (the Intercounty Connector- ICC).


Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police- 3rd District Investigative Section have arrested and charged 41-year-old Terry Claude Tompkins of Temple Hills, MD for the Saturday, July 30, 2022, for the strong-armed robbery of an employee of the Ace Hardware store in the 800 block of Wayne Avenue. At approximately 4 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to the above location for a shoplifting in progress.

The investigation by detectives determined that the suspect entered the hardware store and began stealing multiple electrical cable and wire items. When the store employee confronted the suspect, the suspect then assaulted the employee and took the employee’s cell phone. Through the course of the investigation, detectives were able to identify Terry Claude Tompkins as the suspect.


Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – 6th District Investigative Section are currently investigating a Montgomery Village shooting. Detectives have released a sketch of the male suspect and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him (available below).

On Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Montgomery County Police – 6th District officers responded to the 18300 block of Lost Knife Circle for the report of a shooting that just occurred. Upon arrival, officers located a juvenile male suffering from multiple suspected gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.


Per the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Maryland: U.S. District Judge Theodore D. Chuang sentenced Marion Rose Payne, age 55, of Harwood, Maryland, on August 15, 2022, to 15 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for conspiracy to produce and transfer identification documents without lawful authority, specifically, Maryland driver’s licenses.  Judge Chuang also ordered Payne to forfeit $25,000, which constitutes the proceeds of Payne’s participation in the criminal conspiracy.

The sentence was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Erek L. Barron and Special Agent in Charge James C. Harris of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Baltimore.


Nesredin Esleiman of Silver Spring is described as “a devoted Muslim family man, loved by his community, friends and family.” According to a GoFundMe started to raise money for his family, the Montgomery County man was working as an Uber driver when he was shot and killed on Wednesday, August 10, in what police describes as an attempted robbery. Mr. Esleiman has left behind a wife and three children.

On August 10, 2022, at approximately 6:20 am, patrol officers were called to the 5400 block of Chesterfield Drive for a welfare check. Once on scene, officers located the victim inside of a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene. The preliminary investigation revealed Esleiman was operating as a rideshare driver at the time of the murder.


Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division have arrested 16-year-old, Maynor Josue Bonilla-Flores of Washington and 18-year-old, Cesar De-La-O-Rodriguez of Washington for the December 19, 2021, homicide that occurred in the 13000 block of Ashby Road in Rockville.

On Sunday, December 19, 2021, at approximately 3 a.m., 4th District officers responded to the location for the report of a shooting that just occurred. Officers arrived on scene and located three adult victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Two of the victims sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. The third victim had a gunshot wound to his upper body. All three victims were transported to area hospitals. The victim, suffering from the gunshot wound to his upper body, identified as 22-year-old, Danis Alcides Salgado-Mata of Rockville, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.


The Securities and Exchange Commission charged Eagle Bancorp, Inc., based in Bethesda, Maryland, and its former Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board, Ronald D. Paul, with negligently making false and misleading statements about related party loans extended by the bank to Paul’s family trusts. Eagle and Paul have agreed to settle the SEC’s charges.

The SEC’s order against Eagle finds that, from March 2015 through April 2018, Eagle failed to include loans to Paul’s family trusts totaling at times nearly $90 million in the related party loan balances included in its annual reports and proxy statements. The SEC’s order also finds that Eagle improperly omitted tens of millions of dollars of loans to Eagle directors and their family members from these related party loan balances. Both SEC regulations and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required Eagle to disclose these material related party transactions.

During the course of the dispute, shots were fired and it was determined that a juvenile male was the victim of a shooting. Officers and fire rescue responded. The victim was transported to an area hospital with serious injury.

Original Report: A teenager was shot at approximately 11:20pm last night on Lost Knife Circle, which is located just off of Montgomery Village Avenue and Lost Knife Road in Montgomery Village. Officers were initially dispatched for a sound of shots complain and found the teenaged victim critically shot. Officers rendered first aid prior to EMS arrival. The victim was transported to the hospital with very serious injuries.
