Forbes released an exclusive article on Wednesday morning titled “Dan Snyder Hires Bank of America to Sell Washington Commanders”. According to the article, “Snyder already has at least four phone calls from groups interested in buying the team.” Before too much excitement sets in for Commanders fans, the article states that Snyder and his bankers are currently exploring all options and a transaction could be for the entire team or for a minority stake in the team.

The Commanders have released the following statement, titled “Washington Commanders Hire Bank of America Securities to Consider Potential Transactions”. Dan and Tanya Snyder and the Washington Commanders announced today that they have hired BofA Securities to consider potential transactions. The Snyders remain committed to the team, all of its employees and its countless fans to putting the best product on the field and continuing the work to set the gold standard for workplaces in the NFL.” Bank of America was in charge of the transaction that saw Steve Ballmer purchase the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers in 2014.

Per the NBA: The Washington Wizards will reunite the “Big Three” of Gilbert Arenas, Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison to celebrate “Throwback Night” in recognition of the team’s 25^th anniversary since rebranding to the Wizards. The game will take place on Friday, November 18, when the Miami Heat come to Capital One Arena. Tipoff will be at 7:00 p.m.

As part of “Throwback Night,” the team will recognize Arenas, Butler and Jamison in a halftime celebration for their contributions to the franchise. The trio played together from 2005-06 to 2009-10 and led Washington to three consecutive playoff appearances (2006-2008).

On Tuesday afternoon, Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay was the first NFL owner to publicly make a statement against Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder. “I believe there is merit to removing him as owner.” he said, according NFL reporter Ian Rappaport. In response to a report that Dan Snyder “has dirt” on other NFL owners, Commanders reporter Matthew Paras tweeted that Irsay said he could “care less” if Dan Snyder has “dirt” on other owners. “You could investigate me ’til the cows come home. That’s not going to back me off.”

The Washington Commanders released a statement responding to Irsay’s comments: “It is highly inappropriate, but not surprising, that Mr. Irsay opted to make statements publicly based on falsehoods in the media. It is unfortunate that mr. Irsay decided to go public with that statement today, while an investigation is in process, and the team has had no opportunity to formally respond to allegations. The Commanders have made remarkable progress over the past two years. We are confident that, when he has an opportunity to see the actual evidence in this case, Mr. Irsay would conclude that there is no reason for the Snyders to consider selling the franchise. And they won’t.”

The Washington Commanders are preparing for the start of the regular season with new Quarterback Carson Wentz, and Wentz seems to have long term plans in the DC area. TMZ reports that Wentz has purchased the home that belonged to former Washington Head Coach Jay Gruden for $3.67 million.
