Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will hold a virtual public hearing on the proposed replacement of Redland Road Bridge (M-0056) over Mill Creek in Derwood on Wednesday, June 7, at 6:30 p.m. Members of the public are encouraged to provide oral or written comments.

This project provides for the replacement of the existing bridge (M-0056) on Redland Road over Mill Creek. The existing single-span concrete slab bridge will be removed and replaced with a new prestressed concrete box beam superstructure, precast concrete abutments and wing walls. The new superstructure will be constructed in the same location using accelerated bridge construction techniques to minimize the disruption to the traveling public and local community. This project will also include roadway work at each end of the bridge to tie-in to the existing roadway, as well as stream restoration for, both the upstream and downstream sections of, Mill Creek.

The average wheelchair or walker has a usable life span of more than five years. However, this type of equipment is often only used for a few months before being discarded, taking up valuable landfill space while leaving many without resources to obtain the medical equipment they desperately need.

The collection site at the Shady Grove Transfer Station is the eighth satellite collection container put in place by Maryland DME Re-Use. The 20-foot container holds up to 95 pieces of equipment. Technicians with Maryland DME Re-Use will collect the equipment and transport it to a 56,000-square-foot facility located in Cheltenham, where it will be sanitized, repaired and stored for future distribution. Non-functional equipment will be broken down for parts that are saved and later used, further minimizing waste.

Per Pike’s Peek 10K: The race will take place on Sunday, April 23 at 7:50am. Road closures begin at 5am. The Montgomery County Road Runners Club works in conjunction with the Montgomery County Department of Transportation, Montgomery County Police, City of Rockville Police, Montgomery County Department of Recreation and City of Rockville to ensure that the Pike’s Peek 10K course is safe for runners and has the least impact on traffic in the area.

We use a process of rolling road closures so the flow of traffic is stopped for the least amount of time possible.  All of the intersections on the course are assigned a City of Rockville/Montgomery County police person and/or a Pike’s Peek 10K course Marshal.  We ask that the drivers in the area of the race course please pay attention to the instructions given to drivers.
