Local meteorologists are monitoring two potential storm systems early in January. Confidence is increasing that next week will bring some wintry precipitation, though amounts remain uncertain. A minor system on Friday could also produce scattered snow showers, possibly leaving a light coating (or more) in some areas.

Earlier this week, the Washington Commanders announced that they waived 2022 second round draft pick Phidarian Mathis. Mathis was claimed by the New York Jets, along with Jamin Davis– another former Commanders 1st round pick who was released earlier this year. The Jets also signed kicker Greg Joseph. (more…)


The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has shared that a significant pattern change is expected across much of the country as an Arctic Outbreak is forecast to spread from the Northern Plains to the south and east, leading to exceptionally high probabilities of below-normal temperatures expected across much of the East. It also comes with a risk of heavy snow, which is just slight for now.

As colder weather approaches and the potential for winter storms looms in January, we take a closer look at the winter outlooks from the four major networks in the D.C. area. The Washington Commanders beat the Atlanta Falcons 30-24 in overtime on Sunday night, to move to 11-5 and clinch a playoff berth after winning four straight games. Next week, they travel to Dallas to take on the Cowboys. If they win the game, they earn the 6th seed in the NFC and would travel to Los Angeles to take on the Rams in the first round of the playoffs. Let’s take a look at some fun facts from today’s game:
