MCPS shared that as part of the school system’s emergency weather procedures, meals were made available to children aged 18 and under (regardless of their enrollment status in the school district) at 18 sites across the county. Parents and guardians could also pick up these meals.

MCPS will open schools and offices 2 hours late on Thursday, January 9, 2025, due to extremely cold temperatures and refreezing, with morning programs canceled or delayed and outdoor activities moved indoors for safety.
After three consecutive days of MCPS cancelling school, we have received reports throughout the day of schools with unplowed parking lots and snow/ice covered sidewalks.

Grab and Go meal distribution will be available from 12pm-2pm for ages 18 and under. Families may pick up meals and bring them home to enjoy. Heating instructions will be included.
