Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) recently shared that Kendra Smith, a dance teacher at John F. Kennedy High School in Silver Spring, has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts.

Ashley Kapp, a third-grade special education teacher at Brooke Grove Elementary School in Olney, has been recognized as this year’s MCPS Rising Star Teacher of the Year. In her first year as an educator, Kapp teaches a class primarily composed of students diagnosed with autism.
