This week, the Board of Education unanimously approved the appointment of Dr. Thomas Taylor as superintendent and recognized the contributions of interim superintendent Dr. Monique Felder. The Board also announces the upcoming installation ceremony for the 47th Student Member of the Board, Praneel Suvarna.

The Board of Education approved the administrative appointment of retiring Montgomery County Police Chief Marcus G. Jones as Chief of the school system’s Department of Security and Compliance.
The Montgomery County Board of Education will formally appoint Dr. Thomas Taylor as the next superintendent of schools at its regular business meeting meeting June 25.
Per MCPS: Dr. Taylor has more than 25 years of experience as an educator, with more than 12 years in district level leadership and 6 years as a superintendent. He is currently the superintendent of Stafford County Public Schools in Virginia and has an established track record of success as an education leader. Dr. Taylor was named Virginia Region III Superintendent of the Year in 2024, honoring the student-focused work he led in Stafford County.
Children 18 years old or younger may come to any of the summer meals locations Monday through Friday for a healthy and nutritious lunch. The Summer Meals Program is designed to provide nutritious meals at no cost to children 18 years old and younger. The MCPS Summer Meals Program is designed to bridge the “nutrition gap” when school is out.
The annual Drive for Supplies distribution event will take place at Parkland Middle School on Friday, July 19 from 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., while supplies last.
