Andrew Italia is a Quince Orchard High School graduate and MoCo resident. When he was in college at the University of Maryland, he was the movie critic for The Maryland Diamondback. During his time as the movie critic, he began making Oscar predictions for all 24 categories. His all-time record is 21 out of 24, but he usually falls in the 18-20 range. The 2024 Oceans Calling Festival will take place September 27-29 on the Ocean City, MD Boardwalk. The three day music and art festival is organized in partnership with Rockville natives O.A.R, who will also be performing several sets at the event. (more…)
Olney Theatre Center, an official state theatre of Maryland, has begun construction on the overhaul of its 1938 Original Theatre and announced that upon completion, the venue will be renamed the Bernard Family Theatre, in recognition of a $1 million gift from philanthropist Cathy Bernard. A dedication ceremony will be held once construction is complete in the fall.

Wootton High School’s Acappella group, The Acatonics, have done it again. Just a week after winning first place overall, along with best soloist and vocal percussionist, at SingStrong New York, The Acatonics won first place in the prestigious International Competition of High School Acappella (ICHSA) Quarter Final Competition on Saturday Feb. 10th.
